I Just Went to See a Movie

I saw "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It was quite fun. Last week I saw an absolutely amazing movie: "Crash". Go see it in the Theatre. It is intense. Great acting, amazing story, deeply insightful and moving. Don't see it if you aren't interested in a serious movie.

A Book and a Movie

I finished reading "1421 - The Year China Discovered America". This is an excellent book that seems to conclusively demonstrate that the Chinese had explored the entire world and even set up colonies throughout North and South America. Evidence includes maps from pre-Columbus time of North America, lingustics, plant species, and artifacts. Fun reading and I'm not a history buff.

I also watched "Logan's Run". Pretty middle-of-the-road, and definitely mid-seventies pre-Star Wars quality special effects. The acting is good at points, but mostly terrible. The story is strong for most of the movie, but the ending disappointed me.

Two great books

I just finished reading The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell and Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't by Jim Collins. Both books are excellent, and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in business, organizational development, and personal development.

The Wedding Singer

Last night Melanie and I watched "The Wedding Singer" with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. We enjoyed it a lot - some good laughs and a nice touching happy ending. Recommended as nice light fare. Recently I've come to appreciate Mr. Sandler's work a lot more. He and Ms. Barrymore work well together - "Fifty First Dates" was actually quite a tear-jerker.

I have to admit, though, that my standards for enjoying movies are quite low.
